School District 93 partnered with Halse-Martin Construction as the Construction Manager to extend the Deux Rives School with a state-of-the-art prefabricated gymnasium. This project required a fast-tracked procurement process to ensure the heavy timber structure could be fabricated and installed during the driest months of the year. HMC leveraged Building Information Modeling (BIM) to meticulously coordinate schedules and sequences with various trades.
Weather Protection Strategy
HMC was instrumental in creating and implementing a comprehensive weather protection strategy to safeguard the Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) during installation. This proactive approach ensured that the CLT would not suffer any damage, maintaining the integrity and quality of the structure.
Design Highlights
Designed by Studio Hub Architects, the new gymnasium showcases exposed Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) panels and beams, adding a modern and natural aesthetic to the structure. The exterior features two prefinished metal benches, enhancing the overall appeal and functionality of the space.
Project Success
The gymnasium was completed on schedule, ready for the new school year, demonstrating HMC's commitment to timely and efficient project delivery.
